April 10th - Dr. Hahnemann's Birthday

Hahnemann was born in Miessen, Germany on 10th April, 1775, and his first definition of the Simile Principle was given in an essay in Hufelands journal, in 1796.

This makes 1796 the year of birth of homoeopathy. The first edition of his "Organon of the Healing Art" was brought out in 1810. Thus, counting from this date, Homoeopathy has been claiming adherents as a science of therapeutics. During these years many illustrious physicians have adorned themselves as staunch and unwavering practitioners of this art. They have left a rich store of literature and experience for the guidance of posterity. On this occasion, when we are celebrating Hahnemanns birthday, let us recall to our minds the important instructions he has given in the Organon, which has been rightly hailed as a great landmark in medical literature.

Homeopathic Remedies Effective Against Melanoma (Skin Cancer)

Melanoma is an aggressive form of skin cancer. While it accounts for less than 5% of all skin cancer cases it is responsible for a large percentage of skin cancer deaths. It?s the fastest growing of all cancer groups and worldwide is increasing in incidence. 

Surviving melanoma largely depends on how quickly it is detected and excised. The best chance of cure comes from the early surgical removal of thin tumors. Once the melanoma has spread (metastasized) or thickened, survival rates plummet.

Normal chemotherapeutic options are limited and not very successful with melanomas. They are also associated with significant side effects such as bone marrow damage, reduced blood quality, and pronounced nausea or vomiting.

1. Prevent melanoma and bowel cancer cells from invading or sticking to the cells and tissues that surrounded them,
2. Improve the immune system?s ability to kill cancer cells,
3. Make cancerous melanoma tumors shrink or become dormant
This complex was tested repeatedly in both in vivo tests (using laboratory animals) and in in vitro tests using melanoma and colon cancer cells.

The potentized remedies included: Aconitum napellus; Arsenicum album; Asafoetida; Calcarea carbonica; Conium maculatum; Ipecacuanha; Phosphorus; Rhus toxicodendron; Silicea; Sulphur; and Thuja occidentalis.

Vacinne Withdrawn: Rotarix

WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. health officials are telling pediatricians to temporarily stop using one of two vaccines against a leading cause of diarrhea in babies - GlaxoSmithKline's Rotarix.

The Food and Drug Administration calls Monday's move a precaution after the discovery that Rotarix doses have been contaminated with an apparently benign pig virus.

FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg says Rotarix has been used in millions of children worldwide - and 1 million in the U.S. - with no signs of safety problems. Nor is the pig virus known to cause any kind of illness in people or animals. But vaccines are supposed to be sterile, so FDA is investigating.

Meanwhile, FDA told doctors to use a competing vaccine against diarrhea-causing rotavirus, Merck's Rotateq.
